Resurrection Day – the Tomb is Empty

Jesus Has Risen

Luke 24:1-7

New International Version (NIV)

24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”

Easter; the day the Christian world celebrates the resurrection of Christ. This is the day when God’s omnipotence was shown to Satan. Satan never understood or believed that God was all-powerful, more powerful, than he would ever dream to be possible. When God displayed His omnipotent power in raising Jesus from the dead, Satan realized that in fact, he had lost the battle. He thought he had won the victory over God and mankind when God did not stop His son, Jesus, from dying on the cross.

Because Satan knows he will never have the power to defeat God, and His perfect plan for the salvation of man, he has become even more vindictive and full of hatred towards God and man. Praise God for His power within us! It is by His power we overcome the evil one!

Easter; the day God reveals His love to the world, when He broke the chain of death over His son, Jesus.

And all who confess their need for Jesus to be Lord and Savior of their lives, their chains of death too will be broken!

John 5:24

New International Version (NIV)

24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Romans 6:5

New International Version (NIV)

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.

1 Corinthians 15:20-21

New International Version (NIV)

20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

1 Corinthians 15:55

New International Version (NIV)

55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

Easter; the day God revealed His love and His power through the resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ!

If you have not yet accepted the love and power of God in your life, then my challenge to you, this Easter, call on the name of Jesus, and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Do this and you will have a new birth, a birth into the kingdom of God, and the promise of eternity with God the Father, through the shed blood, death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ!
