Good Friday – the Crucifixion and Death of Christ

Published March 29, 2013

Luke 23:32-34

New International Version (NIV)

32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[a] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

John 19:28-30

New International Version (NIV)

The Death of Jesus

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Satan believes he has won!

Satan has used his power over man and their susceptibility to fear, envy, jealousy, pettiness, pride fullness, lies, anger, cruelty, and torture, to bring about the death of Christ, the Savior of the world! Satan believed his power was greater than the power of God, when the Father let His son die on the cross. Satan never understood the power of God, nor did Satan understand or believe, what the Fathers perfect plan for mankind was. If the evil one had understood and believed God’s plan, then he would have known he was defeated before he ever began his battle against God and mankind.

This Was God’s Perfect Plan:

John 3:16

New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Matthew 16:21

Amplified Bible (AMP)

21 From that time forth Jesus began [clearly] to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders and the high priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised [a]from death.

Mark 8:31

New International Version (NIV)

31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

Luke 9:22

New International Version (NIV)

22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

There never seems to be an Easter when I am not asked the question, “What is so good about ‘Good Friday’? This is my opportunity, as well as yours, to tell them of God’s Perfect Plan! This was the day that God displayed His love for the world! This is the day when Jesus, the one and only Son of God displays His love for His Father, and for the world! Like Satan; the world does not understand the love God has for humanity. And sadly, the world does not understand or believe the power God has. The world refuses to acknowledge and accept God’s great love and power. The world, like Satan, simply cannot see that it was ‘good’ for Jesus to give His life on the cross at Calvary.

This Easter, pray for His power, and His love, to shine through you, so the world will see the good, in ‘Good Friday’!

Next; He Has Risen!!
