Buffeted By Sin

Published March 11, 2013

I recently had to drive to another city and back on the same day. It was six plus hours of continuous driving in extremely windy conditions. My vehicle was so violently buffeted by the wind it was often very difficult to keep my vehicle in the proper lane of traffic. It was very exhausting both mentally and physically and I was grateful for the trip to be over.

This experience reminded me of the struggle we have when we are buffeted by the winds of temptation and sin. My road trip was only a few hours and then it was over with. However, the time we travel on the road of life, buffeted by the winds of temptation and sin, is day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year. It can be very exhausting and there is always the peril of drifting of the road God has directed us to stay on!

I encourage you; take comfort as I have taken comfort, in the knowledge that Jesus Christ too, was buffeted by the winds of temptation and sin. We have a God who knows how difficult those winds can be. He is always there to shelter us and protect us from those winds!

Fatigued from the buffeting winds of temptation and sin?

Psalm 28:7

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;

Psalm 91

New International Version (NIV)

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3

New International Version (NIV)

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

Rest in the strength and shelter of His word!
