God Says

1 Peter 5:7

New International Version (NIV)

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

“God says cast all your cares on me.”

Anxiety, worry and doubt are three of the most effective weapons the enemy has in his arsenal that he bombards Christians with. How many hours of sleep and lost productivity do we sacrifice when our minds are controlled with the cares of this world? To many to count I am sure.

The weapon of choice for the Christian to use in this battle with the enemy is the Word of God. Christ knew the power of God’s word. He used it against the enemy when He was being tempted in the garden. If you are a Christian then you are also a disciple of Christ, and if you are His disciple, then do as Christ instructed his disciples to do.

Do Not Worry

Matt 6: 25-34

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I will be the first to admit this is often a difficult thing to do. Casting our cares on Him is a faith building process. However, casting our cares on Him will improve and strengthen our walk and relationship with Christ. Our time of prayer becomes stronger and more disciplined every time we cast our cares on Him.

But to be really effective in the practice of casting our cares on Him, we must remember and practice the instruction given in 1 Peter 5:6.  Note: Underlining done by me for emphasis.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

The next times you are anxious, worried, or in doubt, remember in humility, God’s word.

“God says cast all your cares on Him!”
