To Be a Better Witness

Psalm 145:8

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy

This is a great scripture when witnessing to the unsaved. Many feel like they can never be loved by God. They feel a total helplessness and futility of ever being forgiven by God. There mind-set is that their sins have been to numerous and offensive. They are lost in the idea that God wants nothing to do with them. Their idea of a wrathful God who is eager to punish is difficult to overcome.

How wrong they are! When they hear how gracious God is, and how full his compassion is, the barriers of doubt and condemnation begin to crumble. And when they are told of God’s slow anger and His great mercy they begin to feel a sense of relief and hope in their lives.

When witnessing we must make sure this scripture is part of our character as well. We must be gracious and compassionate. We must be slow to anger and merciful when sins of the unsaved are confessed to us. If we can not display these qualities in our lives, how will the unsaved ever place a trust in God?

Always remember, God has done this for us and He expects no less from us!

Thank you God!
